DETAILS RELATED TO THE B.COM. COURSE
RULES
CONCERNING ADMISSION:
-
O.2152
: A candidate for being eligible for admission to the
three year course leading to the Bachelor of Commerce
must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate
(Std.XII) examination conducted by the different Divisional
Boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and
Higher Secondary Education with the following subjects
:
- English
- Any one
of the Modern Indian Languages or Modern Foreign Languages
or any Classical Language or Information Technology.
- Any three
subjects from among the subjects mentioned below.
i. Economics
ii. Book-Keeping and Accountancy
iii.Organisation of Commerce
iv. Geography
v. Mathematics & Statistics
vi. Secretarial Practice
vii. Co-operation.
- Any one
optional subject carrying 100 marks.
OR
Must have passed
the Higher Secondary School Certificate (STD.XII) Examination
with vocational subject conducted by the different Divisional
Boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education
with the following subjects :
- English
- Any one
Vocational subject carrying 200 marks prescribed for the
Higher Secondary School Certificate (STD. XII) examination
from time to time.
- Any three
subjects carrying 100 marks each from among the subjects
under the Faculty of Commerce.
OR
Must have passed
the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination
conducted by the different Divisional Boards of the Maharashtra
State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education from
Arts and Science streams with the following combination of
subjects :
- English
- Any one
of the Modern Indian Languages or Modern Foreign Languages
or any Classical Language or Information Technology.
- Any one
subject from the following five subjects :
i. Economics
ii. Mathematics or Statistics
iii.Geography
iv. Psychology
v. Geology
- Any three
subjects carrying 100 marks each from the Arts or Science
Faculty.
OR
Must
have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.
XII) examination conducted by the different Divisional Boards
of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary
Education from Arts and Science streams with the following
combination of subjects :
- English
- Any one
Vocational subjects carrying 200 marks.
- Any one
subject from the following five subjects :
i. Economics
ii. Mathematics or Statistics
iii. Geography
iv. Psychology
v. Mathematics & Statistics
vi. Geology
- Any two
subjects carrying 100 marks each from among the subjects
under the faculties of Arts and Science.
OR
Must
have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XII)
examination with the Minimum competency based vocational courses
conducted by the different Divisional Boards of the Maharashtra
State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education with
the following subjects :
- English
- Any one
of the Modern Indian Lanugaues or Modern Foreign Languages
or classical languages or Information Technology.
- General
Foundation Course
- Any one
subject carrying 300 marks from among the minimum competency
based vocational courses prescribed by the Higher Secondary
School Certificate examination from time to time.
OR
Must have passed
an examination of another University or Body recognized as
equivalent thereto.
- A student
who has passed the FY B.Com. Examination will be eligible
for admission to the Second Year B.Com. Class.
- A student
who has passed the SY B.Com. Examination will be eligible
for admission to the Third Year B.Com. class.
- Repeaters
will not be admitted.
- Admissions
to FY B.Com. class will start after the declaration of the
HSC Examination
results. Admissions to other classes will start after the
declaration of the results of the qualifying examination.
- Students
seeking admission should apply in person during the hours
notified for the purpose.
- A student
seeking admission to the College shall have to present himself/herself,
alongwith an application in the prescribed form duly filled
in and signed by him/her and by his/her parents/guardians,
for an interview by the Principal. No admission shall be
regarded as duly granted unless it is granted by the authority
of the Principal and the necessary fees have been received
by the College.
- All admissions
are valid only for one academic year and are required to
be renewed by application in the prescribed form for every
subsequent year of study in College.
- Normally,
a student of this college who has qualified himself/herself
for admission to a higher class, will be admitted to such
a class, provided an application for the purpose, in the
prescribed form, duly filled in, has been received with
the necessary fees within the notified period.
- Once a student
is admitted to the College he/she shall be liable to pay
the full fees. A penalty will be levied upon a student who
fails to pay the fees and other dues on the prescribed date.
- A student
once admitted will be considered as duly enrolled for the
academic year, unless he/she informs the Principal, in writing
of his intention to leave the college at least a week before
the commencement of the Second Term.
- For admission
to any class it is necessary to produce in original:
a) The passing
certificate of the last examination passed.
b) Statement
of marks.
c) No Objection
Certificate from the head of the institution last attended
in the case of the students from the
other colleges joining the SY and TY Classes.
d) Transference
Certificate in the case of students coming from other colleges
affiliated to the University of Mumbai.
e) Eligibility
Certificate in the case of students passing an examination
other than the HSC examination of the Maharashtra
State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education,
Pune, or an examination of any University
other than the University of Mumbai, as the case may be.
- Admissions
are provisional until Enrolment Certificate / Final Eligibility
Certificate/ Transfer Certificate is submitted to the College.
Students seeking admission to FY B.Com. class are advised
to see separate guidelines issued for the purpose.

- Commerce
– Paper-1 (Business System & Society)

B.COM
A student is
required to offer six papers as under :
Each paper will carry 100 marks :
- Applied
Component Group – Paper-I : Advertising / Computer
Programming.

– Paper-II (Marketing & Finance)
- Accounting
& Financial Management – Paper II

Studies).

A student is
required to offer seven paper as under :

Group paper – I (Financial Accounting & Auditing)
- Special
Group Paper – II (Financial Accounting & Auditing)
- Special
Group Paper-III (Financial Accounting & Auditing)
- Business
Economics – Paper III (Development Issues of the Indian
Economy)
EXAMINATIONS
- The First
year and the Second year examinations will be conducted
term wise by the College on behalf of the University.
- Promotion
to the Second year and Third year will be on the basis of
the performance at the First year Examination and Second
year examination held at the end of each term as per the
University requirement.
- The standard
of passing, rules of gracing and benefit of ATKT will be
as per the rules prescribed by the University of Mumbai.
- The details
regarding the Examinations will be displayed on the notice
boards from time to time.
- A student
found to have used unfair means at the examination will
be dealt with as per the provisions laid down by the Maharashtra
University Act 1994.
- Tutorials
for some subjects are held to supplement lectures. As their
purpose is to foster reference reading and independent thinking,
they are held in small batches.
- Periodical
examinations are held to foster continuous preparation on
the part of students and to let them know their progress.
- Attendance
at tutorials and examinations is compulsory and the performance
at these will be taken into account while confirming the
admission of students to the University / College examinations.
ATTENDANCE
The following shall be minimum attendance necessary for keeping
terms:

“For granting the terms in each subject, minimum attendance
of 75% of the theory lectures, practicals and tutorials (wherever
prescribed) separately will be required out of the total number
of lectures, practicals and tutorials in the subject conducted
in the terms.”
O.125
To keep a term a student must complete, to the satisfaction
of the Principal, the course of study at the College prescribed
for such terms for the class to which such student then belongs.
Students who fail to satisfy the conditions laid down in 0.119
and 0.125 will not be permitted to appear at the examinations.
PAYMENT
OF FEES :
- The fees
shall be paid in cash only.
- Student
coming from other Colleges affiliated to University of Mumbai
will be provided with Transference Certificate form alongwith
the fees should be submitted in the college from where they
seek transfer.
- Students
belonging to Scheduled Caste / Tribes , the EBC may apply
for Govt. Scholarship, freeship as per notice issued by
the Principal in that connection.
- Students
of SY B.Com. class offering computer Programming and of
TY B.Com. class offering Computer Systems, Students of TY
B.Com. class offering Direct & Indirect Taxation or
Investment Analysis & Portfolio Management will pay
an additional fee as prescribed by the University of Mumbai.
- Caution
Money and Library Deposit is required to be paid as may
be indicated separately.
REFUND
OF FEES, CAUTION MONEY & LIBRARY DEPOSIT :
Application
for refund of fees shall be made in the prescribed form available
in the College office.
1. Rules in respect of refund of fees are as under :
0.2589
a) All fees
paid by a student at the time of admission shall be refunded
to him after deduction of Rs.10/- (Rupees ten only) as administrative
charges, if the student informs the Principal of the College/
Institution in writing, before the date of commencement of
the term, that he desires to cancel his admission.
b) If a student informs the Principal of the College / Institution,
in writing, within 30 days from the date of commencement of
the term that he desires to cancel his admission, all fees
shall be refunded to him after deduction of Rs.30/- (Rupees
thirty only) as administrative charges.
c) If a student informs the Principal of the college / Institution,
in writing after 30 days from the date of commencement of
the term and upto the end of the term that he desires to cancel
his admission, all fees shall be refunded to him after deduction
of Rs75/- (Rupees Seventyfive only) as administrative charges.
2. All cases which do not fall under 1 above, shall be within
the discretion of the Principal.
3. If the last day for submission of application for the refund
of fees falls on a Sunday or a public holiday, the next day
shall be deemed to be the last day for the purpose.
4. Identity Card and the Readers’ Ticket, if issued
and the Fee Receipt shall be surrendered along with the application
for discontinuation and refund of fees.
5. Caution money and Library Deposit will be refunded to the
student if not forfeited for any reason, when he ceases to
be a student of the College, provided that he is certified
to be owing no money to the College and to have no library
or any other College property in his possession. The Caution
Money and Library Deposit will be refunded only on the dates
to be notified by the College for the purpose. The prescribed
form for the withdrawal will be available in the College office.
The
Students’ Mutual Aid Fund :
Monetary help
from the Students’ Mutual Aid Fund is granted, on application,
to the needy students of the College.
The College
Book Bank:
A Book Bank
comprising books purchased out of the Student’s Mutual
Aid Fund has been established for the benefit of students.
Students, particularly
those who are financially not so well off, are advised to
approach this Bank for books.
