DETAILS RELATED TO THE UNAIDED COURSES

Eligibility :

O.3941 A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Degree Course in Management Studies shall have passed XII Std. Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent with mathematics as one of the subjects and secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate at first attempt for the general category & 40% marks for the reserved category at first attempt.

O.3942 Every candidate admitted to the Degree Course in the Constituent/affiliated college/recognized institution conducting the course, shall have to register himself/herself with the University.

 


 

Duration:

O.3943 The Course shall be a full time course. The duration of the course shall be six semesters spread over three years.

R.4160 Number of Students : A batch shall consist of not more than 60 students.

R. 4165 Scheme of Examination

  1. The examination shall be conducted at the end of each Semester.
  2. A Theory paper shall carry 100 marks. The evaluation of the performance of the students in theory papers shall be on the basis of both Internal assessment (40%) and semester and examination (60%). Internal evaluation shall be on the basis of class assignments, group discussions, seminar attendance etc. The Semester end examination shall be held at the end of each Semester and shall be of 2 hours duration.
  3. The responsibility of evaluation during the first 4 Semesters shall rest with the college / Institution wherein the students are admitted for the course. The college/Institution shall carry out the internal evaluation for theory papers in Semesters V and VI while the University shall conduct the Semester end examination for these two semesters. The Internal evaluation marks of students appearing for Semester V and VI shall be sent to the University by the respective college/institution before the commencement of the respective semester-end examination.
  4. The evaluation of Projects I and II shall be carried out by the examiners appointed by the University inclusive of viva-voce examination. The project reports shall be assessed for 60% of the total marks while viva-voce examination shall carry 40% of the marks.

R.4166 Passing Standards

  1. A candidate shall have to obtain a minimum of 50% marks in each theory paper and project to clear a particular semester.
  2. A candidate shall be placed in First Class with Distinction if he/she secured a minimum of 50% marks in each of the theory papers and projects in Semesters V and VI considered separately and atleast 75% marks in aggregate.
  3. A candidate shall be placed in First class if he/she secures a minimum of 50% marks in each of the theory papers and projects in Semesters V and VI considered separately and at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  4. A candidate shall be placed in Second class he/she secures a minimum of 50% marks in each of the theory papers and project in Semesters V and VI considered separately and at least 50% marks in aggregate .
  5. A candidate shall have to secure at least 50% marks in each of the theory papers and projects to pass the examination.
  6. A candidate who fails in any particular theory papers shall be allowed to reappear for that theory paper/s. However his/her internal evaluation marks shall be carried over. But shall not be entitled to any class on passing.
  7. A candidate who fails in more than two theory papers at the Semester end examination shall not allowed to keep terms for the next Semester

DETAILS RELATED TO THE B.Sc.(IT) COURSE

Integrated 3 years course :

This is an integrated course of 3 years duration. After completion of the course a candidate can enroll for a Post Graduation degree of 2 year duration leading to a Master of science in Information technology (M.Sc.-IT) degree.

Eligibility : 10+2 candidates with Mathematics at 12th level and should have secured not less
than 50% marks in aggregate for general category and 45% marks in aggregate for the reserved category.

Semester Pattern: Six Semesters with the sixth semester devoted to a Project work
preferably in a SW organization / Institution / research Organisation.

Semester VI

Practical assessment : Out of 50 marks 20 marks is internal assessment and 30 marks is
External assessment.
Tutorial assessment : 50 marks is internal assessment with 10 marks assigned for each of the five tutorials.

Guidelines for eligibility

O.5051 -A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Degree course in Bachelor or Science – Information Technology shall have passed XII examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary education or its equivalent with mathematics as one subject and should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in aggregate case of reserved candidates, at one and the same sitting.

O.5052 Every candidate admitted to the Degree Course in the constituent / affiliated college / recognized Institution conducting the course shall have to register himself / herself with the University.

O.5053 Every eligible candidate has to appear for a common entrance test to be conducted by University of Mumbai for getting admission to this course.

O.5054 The course shall be a full time course. The Duration of the course shall be six semesters spread over three years.

R.4402 No. of students : A batch shall not contain more than 60 students.

R.4403 The course shall consist of 25 theory papers and sixth semester of project work completed in the Institution / Industry / research Organisation.

R.4404 A one/two work orientation course for those needing it, may be conducted by the respective Colleges / University department at the beginning of the course preferably in the evening as per annexure I so that students opting for this course are better prepared to receive the intended course work.

R.4405 All papers are of 100 marks theory and 50 marks practical / Tutorial.

R.4406 The Project will be evaluated for a total of 250 marks.
This will have two in-semester presentations assessed at 50 marks each.
End of the semester evaluation of 150 marks constitutes 50 marks for the report, 50 marks for presentation and 50 marks for viva – voce.

R.4407 Every subject should consist of two in-semester tests, the first conducted after 4 weeks of instruction and the second conducted after 8 weeks. In case of all programming oriented subjects at least one of these tests should be on-line. The answer papers / online test print out of these tests should be attached with the Term work/Practical work / Tutorial.

R.4408 Each Subject has 12/14 weeks of Instruction / Semester.

R.4409 Each subject will have Theory 4 Lectures / week, and Practicals / Tutorials 3 periods / week.

R.4410 Scheme of Examination

(i) Theory paper Max Marks = 100
(ii) Practical / Tutorial = 50 (25 marks internal assessment and 25 marks external
assessment in case of practical and 50 marks internal assessment in case of Tutorial).
(iii) In case of tutorials a minimum of 5 problems have to be assigned each assessed for 10 marks.
(iv) Semester Six has a project work that is evaluated 250 marks divided as Two in-semester presentations assessed at 50 marks each.
End of the semester evaluation of 150 marks that constitutes 50 marks for the report, 50 marks for presentation and 50 marks for viva-voce.

R.4411 Passing Standards :
(i) A student is said to have passed if he/she secures 40% of marks allotted in each head of passing. Theory of 100 marks and (TW/Practical / Tutorial of 50 marks) are treated as separate heads of passing.
(ii) A student is said to have passed a Semester I if he/she passes in all heads of passing of the semester.
(iii) A student is eligible for admission to Semester II if either.
He / she passes Semester I or
He/she fails in not more than two subjects of semester I and semester II taken together.
(iv) A student is eligible for admission to Semester III if
He/she passes Semester I as well as Semester II or
He / she fails in not more than two subjects of semester I and semester II taken together.
(v) A student is eligible for admission to Semester IV if
He/she passes Semester I, II as well as III or
He/she passes Semester I and fails in not more than two subjects of Semester II and III taken together.
(vi) A student is eligible for admission to Semester V if
He / She passes Semester I, II, III, IV
(vii) A student is eligible for admission to Semester Vi if He/she passes Semester V.


R.4412 Examination for Semesters I, II, III, IV will be conducted by the College / Institutions / University department at the end of each semester.
R. 4413 Examinations for Semesters V and VI will be conducted by the University of Mumbai at the end of respective semester.

R. 4411 - Passing Standards ( to be amended as )

  1. A student is said to have passed if he/she secures 40% of marks allotted in each head of passing. Theory of 100 marks and (TW/Practical / Tutorial of 50 marks) are treated as separate head of passing.\
  2. A student is said to have passed Semester I if he student passes in all heads of passing of the semester.
  3. A student is eligible to be admitted to II semester irrespective of no. of heads of failure in the first semester.
    A student is eligible for admission to semester III if
  4. Either the student passes semester I & II
    OR
    The student fails in a combination of Theory and / or Practical taken in 1st semester or II semester or together, where the total marks does not exceed 200.
  5. A student is eligible to be admitted to IV semester irrespective of No. of head of failure in the third semester. However the student has to clear semester I and II in order to appear for Semester IV examination.
    A student is eligible for admission to Semester V if
  6. Either the student passes semester III & IV
    OR
    The student fails in a combination of Theory and / or Practical taken in IIIrd semester or IV semester or together, where the total marks does not exceed 200.
  7. A student is eligible to be admitted to VI semester irrespective of no. of head of failure in the fifth semester. The results of VI should be kept in abeyance until the student clears III, IV and V semester in full.
  8. The class is awarded semester wise for Semesters I, II, III and IV. However Semesters V and VI will be taken together for award of class i.e. in the final year.
    • Award of class is based on first attempt and all papers given in the same sitting.
    • Passing IN parts will be awarded Pass class irrespective of the cumulative percentage marks.

    Distinction is awarded for 75% and above.
    • First Class is awarded for 60% and above but below 75%
    • Second class is awarded for 50% and above but below 60%
    • Pass class is awarded for all below 50%
  9. A repeaters examination will be held 15 days after the declaration of results of the regular examination in I, II, III and IV semester.

DETAILS RELATED TO THE B.Com. (Banking & Insurance) COURSE

Eligibility :

O.5209 :
A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (Banking & Insurance) Degree Course shall have passed XII Std. Examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent and secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate at 45% in case of reserved category) one & the same sitting.
Every candidate admitted to the Degree course in the Constituent / Affiliated college / recognized institution, conducting the course, shall have to register himself / herself with the University.

R.4295 : Duration of the course and related information :

a) The Course shall be a full time course. The duration of the course shall be six semesters spread over in three years.
b) Number of students : A batch shall consist of not more than 60 students.
c) The course shall consist of 36 subjects & 1 project.
d) Total number of lectures per paper per semester (subject shall be maximum of 60 each of 50 minutes duration.

R.4298 Scheme of examination
The Scheme of Examination shall be divided in two parts.
A) Internal Assessment – 40% i.e. 40 marks.
B) Semester End Examination : 60% i.e. 60 marks.


A) INTERNAL ASSESSMENT – 40 marks.

The allocation of 40 marks shall be as follows :

a) Two best of Three periodical class tests held in the given Semester. – 20 marks
b) A better of the Two assignment – the based class presentations (Seminar) to be selflessly assed by the teacher concerned. – 10 marks
c) Group Discussion or Active participation in routine class instructional deliveries – 05 Marks.
d) Overall conduct as a responsible student, mannerism & articulation & exhibit of leadership qualities in organizing related academic activities. – 05 marks.

B) SEMESTER END EXAMINATION – 60 MARKS

a) Duration – This examination shall be of 2 Hrs. duration.
b) Question paper pattern :
i) There shall be four questions each of 15 Marks.
ii) All questions shall be compulsory with internal choice within the
question.
iii)Questions may sub divided in to a) and b) if necessary, for 8&& marks
respectively.
The responsibility of Examination evaluation during he first four semester shall rest with the college/institution where in the students are admitted for the course. The college / Institution shall carry out the internal assessment for the papers in semesters V & VI while the University shall conduct the Semester End Examination for these two semesters. The internal assessment marks of students appearing for Semester V and VI shall be sent to the University by the respective college, Institution before the commencement of the respective semester end examination.
